EXERCISE IS MEDICINE: A proposal for the adoption of strategies to establishing physical exercise as an integral part of health care.
The importance and benefits of physical exercise have not been sufficiently emphasized and there is still lack of information and promotion by the health care providers. Promoting to the population the scientifically proven health benefits of physical exercise, in order to prevent diseases and contribute to their treatment, will lead to improved public health and, in the medium to long term, lower health costs for the citizens.
